This page explains what FroggyDIY collects, why, who we share it with, and how you can download or delete it.
What we collect
- Account details: your email address, your password (stored only as a secure hash), and settings such as your theme. If you sign in with another service or a passkey, we store what's needed to sign you in.
- Repair details: the titles and descriptions you enter, and the results we give you: category, tools, materials, costs, and which kind of contractor to call.
- Photos: photos you take are sent for analysis and then thrown away. FroggyDIY doesn't keep them. See "Who we share it with" below.
- Zip code (optional): if you enter one on "Who do I call?" or your account page while signed in, we save it on your account so contractor quotes (and later, reminders) can match your area. If you're not signed in, it's only used for that one search and not saved. You can change or clear it under Account → Profile.
- Link clicks: when you click a store, contractor or video link, we record the type of link, where it goes, which fix it belongs to, the time, and your account if you're signed in. We also record which category a "Who do I call?" question matched.
- Reminders: the home maintenance reminders you add and their schedules.
- Chat history: the text of your conversations with Froggy, our AI helper, is saved so you can pick them back up. Photos you share in chat aren't kept.
- Subscription details: if you buy FroggyDIY Pro, we store the date your paid period ends, plus the customer ID Stripe gives us. We never see or store your card number.
- Usage counts: how many AI analyses you used each month, so we can apply the free plan's monthly limit.
- Technical data: sign-in cookies that keep you logged in, and standard server logs (such as IP address and browser type) used for security and fixing errors.
- Bug reports: if you report a bug, we save what you wrote, any screenshot you attach, the page you came from, your browser type, the time, and your account if you're signed in. Only the FroggyDIY team sees them, and a short summary (no email or name) is posted to our private team chat.
Why we collect it
- To run FroggyDIY: analyze repairs, keep your fix list, reminders and chats, and keep you signed in.
- To find contractors near you when you ask for quotes.
- To understand which features and links people use, and to earn money from store and contractor links. Counting clicks is how we know which links lead to a purchase or quote.
- To take payments and manage subscriptions.
- To keep the site secure and fix problems.
We don't sell your personal information and we don't show ads.
Who we share it with
- AI provider (Anthropic): photos, repair descriptions, chat messages and reminder questions (with your zip code, if you set one) are sent to Anthropic to be analyzed. Anthropic processes them to give us a response under its commercial terms, which don't allow using them to train its models.
- Stripe: handles payments for FroggyDIY Pro. Your card details go straight to Stripe and are covered by Stripe's privacy policy.
- Stores: some tool and material links are affiliate links (for example, Amazon). When you click one, you go to the store's search for that item (the link carries the item name, such as "caulk", and our affiliate tag), so the store can see that you came from FroggyDIY. If you buy something, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. We don't send stores your email or fix list.
- Contractor referral partners: when you click "Get a quote", you go to our referral partner (currently Thumbtack) with the type of contractor and, if you gave one, your zip code in the link. We don't send them your email, name or fix details. Anything you enter on their site is covered by their privacy policy. We may be paid for the referral.
- Hosting: FroggyDIY runs on Microsoft Azure, which stores our database.
- The law: we'll share information if the law requires it, or to protect people's safety.
Download or delete your data
Signed in, go to Account → Personal data. Download gives you your account information as a file. Delete removes your account and everything tied to it: fixes, reminders, chats, zip code and click history. You can also delete single fixes, reminders and chats at any time. To cancel FroggyDIY Pro, go to FroggyDIY Pro → Manage subscription. Deleting your account also cancels FroggyDIY Pro. Stripe keeps payment records as required by law.
How long we keep it
We keep your information until you delete it or your account. Server logs are kept for a short time for security.
Children
FroggyDIY isn't meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. For big changes, we'll tell signed-in users on the site.
